2012 WORKSHOPS
The first day of Jon’s workshops he demonstrates his painting techniques, how to mix colors, and how to block in the scene for your painting on canvas. Jon will lecture and demonstrate in solid painting techniques and problem solving techniques in the oil paint medium with reliance on the fundamentals and discoveries of the Old Masters.
The second day the students will revisit their painting making the lights lighter and the darks darker. His individual personalized instructions will help students visualize the pictorial potentials of various scenes producing a painting with vitality in design, value, and color. He instructs how to make the painting shine with contrast of colors and with the lights and darks. Each student will get individual instructions both days on how to bring their painting to completion by the end of the workshop.

Jon will give various demonstrations, share some Art History, and other anecdotal information for the class presentation as needed. His instructions on painting still water with reflections will bring you to another level in painting. Jon will demonstrate a surprisingly simple way to do trees and clouds in three easy steps. Jon says, “To paint a painting well, the painter must learn to simplify his approach to the overall composition”.
